Yasmin pill Yasmin pill contains a white to off white powder that is soluble in water. It is yellow with white grounds. Objectives:The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of yasmin on the pharmacokinetics of dydrogesterone, compared to metformin, on the pharmacokinetics of oral metformin and yasmin.
Methods:A total of 80 subjects with a body weight > 155 kg and a body mass index (BMI) of 27 kg/m2 were enrolled. The subjects were randomly assigned into two groups: a control group receiving oral metformin, or a combination of the two drugs in the same dose group (yasmin, 200 mg, and 150 mg). The pharmacokinetics of the two drugs was determined by using the modified Levenson–Hofmann equation. The two drugs were administered orally and their pharmacokinetic parameters, including the terminal elimination half-life, AUC and AUC0-t, were determined before, during, and after the administration of the two drugs, as well as after the administration of the combination of the two drugs.
Results:The pharmacokinetics of the two drugs in the control group were significantly higher than those of the combination group. The AUC0-t increased by 50% in the combination group and by 55% in the control group. The AUC0-t and tmax were significantly higher in the combination group than in the control group. The mean AUC0-t and tmax of the combination group were significantly higher than that of the control group. The mean AUC0-t and tmax of the combination group were significantly higher than the control group and the mean AUC0-t and tmax of the control group were significantly higher than the two groups of control.
Conclusion:The pharmacokinetics of dydrogesterone were significantly higher in the combination group than in the control group. It was concluded that the combination of the two drugs is a safe and effective method of treating acute gynecological conditions.
